(PhD, Macau University; Associate Dean of DCC; Associate Professor of CTV) Wei Jiang was officially selected by China Film Foundation to be a visiting scholar at the School of Cinematic Arts, University of Southern California on the T. C. Wang Fellowship. Before he went to pursue his PhD study at the University of Macau, he had professional experience in the Chinese film industry, having worked as director’s assistant, assistant director, art department coordinator, and other positions for various film and TV productions, such as John Woo’s Red Cliff I & II, Mikael Hafstorm’s Shanghai, Jin Yimeng’sSophie’s Revenge, and Jiang Wen’s Let the Bullets Fly.

Prof. Steve Zhongshi Guo

Director of MA in Communication / Chair of Research Postgraduate Studies Committee

Prof. Guo received his BA in English and English literature from Beijing Foreign Studies University. He worked as a journalist at China Daily for seven years before obtaining his Master's and PhD degree in political communication at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research interest focuses on news production and its social impact. Prof. Guo has been teaching in HKBU since 1996.


Dr. Raymond Wen Li

A veteran journalist working at the BBC for over 24 years, Mr. Li was also the first native Chinese to be appointed the Head of Chinese at the BBC. Mr. Li is also a dedicated football fan who loves reading and travelling.

Dr. Xinzhi Zhang

Assistant Professor
Director of MSc in AI and Digital Media

Dr. Xinzhi Zhang’s research focuses on comparative political communication, digital media and social change, media and public health, and digital humanities, using computational methods (i.e., social network analysis, text mining, and machine learning), online experiments, and comparative social surveys. He has published numerous peer-reviewed academic articles on high-calibrated journals such as Computers in Human Behavior, Health Communication, International Political Science Review, International Journal of Communication, Digital Journalism, Policy & Internet, among others. He has obtained a competitive research grant under the General Research Fund (GRF) of the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong SAR.

He is the Programme Director of MSc in AI and Digital Media (2019 - present). He has served as one of the founding members—and later the Programme Director—of the Data and Media Communication Concentration (2017 - 2019).

Dr. Zhang has been a Lecturer and the Co-Convener of the Academic Discipline of Humanities at the School of Professional Education and Executive Development at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (2014-16). He obtained Ph.D. in Media and Communication at City University of Hong Kong (2013), where he also obtained MA in Communication and New Media with Distinction (2009).
